Sluts
and Goddesses
1990
The sluts and goddesses within Linda Montano, a series of sixteen
(16) transformation photographic portraits. Cibachrome photographs,
edition of 10. Linda Montano, a close friend of Sprinkle's and a
seminal figure within contemporary feminist performance art, is
both the subject and collaborator in this series of photographic
portraits. Montana is represented by a self-portrait (upper-left)
and then by a series of fifteen transformation photographs depicting
her in different personas. The work explores Montano's own personas,
and comments on aspects of similar personas within women in general.
